Gratitude Day 21 - Sticky Notes

My Ode to Sticky Notes

Dear Sticky Notes, dear sticky notes oh how you save my day....

I'm a list kind of girl. Lists for my day, lists for projects, list for shopping, road trips....the list goes on :-)

It wasn't until the inspiration, from the space work I was doing with my clients, that I started making sticky notes part of my lists.

In the Clean Language space work that I do, we write on sticky notes to place in different areas around the room to signify feelings or thoughts. As we work though the process we can move them around or toss them when they are complete. It's brilliant.

It worked so well I started integrating sticky notes into journals, lists and as a inner process tool for myself and my clients. You can move them around, regroup them and arrange them in any way.

And, it is so rewarding to complete a task and get to peel the sticky note and toss it with great satisfaction.   Yes! job done!

I am so grateful for these little sticky bits of paper that help me organize my life in the most creative ways.

Gratitude Day 20 - Silver Linings

Every cloud has a silver lining ...

This phrase has stuck with me through my life. One that makes me think of a cloud filled sky with the sun brilliantly shinning behind them...

And me running off into the land of my daydreams.

Sure, clouds bring rain...

And the sun makes the silver lining...

And oh so much more!

Today as that phrase came to my mind, I started to think of what it would be like if we could just keep making the silver linings in our life bigger and bigger to the point that our clouds were just silver shining globes in the sky.

I imagine that would be quite a sight.

But then maybe it would be too bright. And so having a bit of cloud to give accent and contrast really actually creates more beauty.

And like a great metaphor, it inspired my thoughts towards day to day life.

If everything was just perfect all the time, how would we measure perfect? Perfect would in some way just become the new normal.

The challenges in life help to create the contrast.

It give us something to grow towards, create, make better...

something to dream about...

I am so grateful for the silver linings in life.

To find them everywhere, like blessing radiating and illuminating life in the most beautiful way.

Yes, I am grateful...

And I invite you to find your silver linings my friends... they truly are a sight to behold.

Gratitude Day 19 - Philosophy

Philosophy  - The thought came to me today as I was pondering oh so many things....

"I am merely a philosopher of my own life experiences..."

Those tantalizing thoughts that open doors in the mind to new worlds of conscious awareness.

I am grateful for curious thoughts
I am grateful for questioning minds
I am grateful for expansion
I am grateful for new knowledge

& I am grateful for the gift of language to create the clever witty platform to carry these doorways through the ages.

Gratitude Day 18 - Stretching

When I wake up in the morning, and my body begins to move.
It lets me know about the way I slept or how heavy the physical demands were the previous day.

Starting the day with conscious movement and breath, opening the muscles to more oxygen and circulation is such a blessing.

Saying good morning, hello and then let's go!

This special time that I take to check in. To let my body update me on how things are going has been one of my most valued rituals.

And throughout the day, any chance I get, I stretch and breathe.

Stretch and breathe, breathe and stretch.

They go together so perfectly and give me the opportunity to check in and reset on so many levels.

Stretching has so many benefits for the body.

Here are my top 10 reasons I am so grateful for stretching....

  1. Helps my mood
  2. Keeps me from injuries
  3. Increases circulation
  4. Builds strength
  5. Endorphins!
  6. Boosts my metabolism
  7. Brings me back into the present moment
  8. Reminds me to breathe
  9. Self awareness & self care
  10. More energy through the day

What are your rituals for self care?

I hope stretching is one of them :-)

Gratitude Day 17 - The Body

I have nothing but respect and love for this amazing vessel that I get to call home....my body.

I am forever in awe with how intricate and advanced it its. This micro of the cosmos that holds worlds within worlds within.

I love that, despite my ignorance of what is going on inside, my body is continually aligning itself with wholeness and balance.

I breathe without needing to think about it.
My heart beats, my blood flows.
My immune system protects me.
I can sense the world around me in a beautiful array of ways.

I appreciate all the signals that I am given, the pain, the discomfort and the pleasure, that let me know when I need to assist in some form of action for continued well-being.

Signals that inform me to rest, hydrate, stretch, move, eat...and so much more.

What a gift to be given this advanced vehicle to explore this world.

To live life, to experience life, to feel life!

Yes, I am so grateful for this body I call home.

Remember to tell your body thank you!

Gratitude Day 16 - Expansion

In nature, there are only two states of being .... growing or dying.

Sometimes it is these simple truths

that wake me up the most.

I find in myself the desire to thrive, to grow, to learn to expand. And it is tangible when growth happens in any form.

Once you become informed or learned about something, it is pretty hard to unlearn it.

Knowledge changes things.

Just like it is super uncomfortable to try to squeeze into smaller clothes that we have outgrown, old thought forms can feel the same way.

It is amazing to expand into our truth. Tangible expansion of self. Continually happening and pulling us closer towards interconnection with all.

I am grateful for expansion. I am grateful for growth.

We are in constant motion  ... lets make sure we are moving the right way!

Gratitude Day 15 - Fun

You know you are having fun when you forget to take out your phone and take a picture of the
moment!

... & more importantly, you forget about your phone altogether.

When I was a kid we used to move a lot. This meant that I was always having to make new friends, or probably more correctly, figure out how to fit in.

I remember seeing best friends together and thinking that was so cool. How great it must be to have that special someone that got all your innuendos and jokes.

It took me a long time to realize that it was me that was holding myself back from joining in on all the fun, not my circumstance. Sure, having a long history with someone is great, but that isn't the requirement to having real connection and fun with someone.

When I learned how to be transparent with myself, I opened myself to being transparent with others. This was one of the biggest key factors in freeing myself from the myth that I needed to "fit in" in the first place.

All the fears of judgment, shyness, insecurities etc. started to fade away.

Thank goodness for the mirror that showed me that I was the one barking in my own face.

Our world is a mirror reflection of our perception!

Laughter,
Fun
Child like freedom
In the moment
Fun
Talk about everything & nothing
Playful
Fun

I am so grateful to share this fun with the new friends I meet and the friends that I have known through the years.

I am so grateful for the healing recharge of mind body and spirit when we just let go and have fun!

Gratitude Day 14 - Laughter

Laughter, what a gift.
Laughter changes everything
No matter what mood is hanging overhead
A good belly laugh
Tears running down your cheeks
Can't help it and laugh out loud
Laugh
That stops time
Everything else dissapears
And lifts the floodgates of endorphins

yes, I am grateful for laughter! HA~!

Gratitude Day 13 - Love

Love. What a wonderful word and even more so, what a wonderful feeling.

There is a rainbow of love in my world that and I am so grateful for . The love of my husband, the love of family, the love of friends, the love of pets, the love of the divine. And the love I give myself.

Pure, unconditional love.
Love from the heart.
Love that flows freely.

So there are two baby eagles that are on live cam  in the D.C. area. Baby Liberty and baby Freedom. I don't see them very often on the computer, but I was blessed with the best update on them when I called my mother in law to say than you and I love you.

I enjoyed hearing about how big they are getting and how they are doing all these exercises to strengthen their wings and the feeling of the anticipation for their first flight.

There was one part of the story that really touched me. Recently there was a very strong storm. Normally the mother eagle sleeps on a branch above the nest, but during that storm, the mother eagle came down to the nest, hanging on with all her might, in order to be with the babies through the night.

The storm was wild. The wind was whipping the nest all over the place, there was lightning, rain and thunder. The mama eagle could barely keep from getting knocked over by the wind and rain in the crowded nest. Soaked as she was, she never left the side of her babies the entire night.

And there they were, too big to hide underneath her, so they huddled next to her and tucked their little heads into her feathers feeling the comfort and assurance of her being there with them through the scary night.

To me this is such a wonderful story of love.

It is honest, and in its purest unconditional form, it reaches straight for the heart.

Gratitude Day 12 - Elders

I spent my day in the middle of thousands of people as they celebrated loved ones. I enjoy being in the midst of a large collective of humans all vibrating in this joyous state.

I also got the opportunity to help a few elders to their cars. Their smiles and genuine happiness was so wonderful. One woman was 95 and had Alzheimer and so her answers to my questions were a small window into the world she was living in. Her world filled with happy people and jubilant events from her past.

It was such an honor for me to be able to spend the time with those that I did today.

And it reminded be how much I appreciate the wisdom and stories of those who have circled the sun for much longer than I have.

This idea of legacy. Our story. What will we say at 95? What unique signature are we creating with our time here?

Time is so valuable.

I am grateful for time with elders who bless me with their portals into a past that I now get to know in a richer way through their own words and memories. I am grateful for the gift of the personal experience they share with me. And I am grateful for the reminder to make my life the best biography in the making that I possibly can.

What legacy are you creating?

Gratitude Day 8 - Home

It was a beautiful sunny Sunday here in Ventura so I decided to ride my bike down to the library. I love riding through all the neighborhoods and getting to know the area better. I don’t know much about the history of the area so I really just let myself get cruise and take in the vibes.

As I rolled down the streets people were out and about in all sorts of fashion, walking dogs, biking, shopping, back yard parties, it was great.

There is a beach washed kind of rustic charm here. It’s almost trendy but I can tell there is this vibe like “no way, keep it real”

From my perspective I feel that it’s very much an art town.

As I passed people we would wave and smile. I love this. And there was a feeling inside me like “yea, this is my town, and I like it!”

I ended up riding down to the pier and I was pleasantly surprised to find it opened up. One of the storms over the winter caused it to be closed for repairs so this was the first time since moving here that I was able to actually walk the pier.

I couldn’t put the experience into any one category. The planks were soiled from years of fish guts and scales, seagulls, pigeons and humans. There was trash left on park benches in some places and cared for places in others and a crisp American flag hung from every lamp post.

The entrance was lined with the homeless who were camped out rocking to their little radios and doing their thing. All along the pier, fishing rods leaned on the railing and everyone from families picnicking and fishing, to friends just hanging out. From young to old and every race, everyone was just enjoying the day.

A real a salty dogs haven.

You could just feel the history and it was as if time hadn’t changed anything.

It was as if you could feel that even though tourism is a part of this town, it doesn’t change the vibe or the place.

If perception is in the eye of the beholder...all I know is I like what I see.

An artist’s cove where what you wear isn’t as important as who you are and a stranger passing by is quick to smile.

I am so grateful for a great place to call home.

Gratitude Day 6 - Core Truth

I am grateful for my core drive that keeps me focused on our dreams, our projects and the things that we are creating.

The drum beat of my core purpose that I move and dance to.

Sure I get knocked down from time to time. Sometimes a whole lot more than I would like (or would like to admit!)

But there is something that moves inside of me like the molten core of the Earth. My own core truth. It pulls me right back up and has me focused with more determination than ever.

I was listening to a talk by Barbara Corcoran the other day and I was like “yes! yes! yes!” She talked about success and she made a statement about the thing that separated the successful people from the rest was how quickly they could get back up when they get knocked down.
I know I have had my share of pity parties in my life but what I want to acknowledge and celebrate is how few and far between they are the older I get. Not only that, I spend more of my time not just on my feet, but running towards our goals.

I have realized that most times “knocked down” is just a state of mind for me.

So I would like to celebrate courage, tenacity, vision and success in all of us.

Because what we celebrate
we reciprocate!

Yes please! Thank You! May I have another!

Today let us all celebrate and have gratitude for the core drive in us that picks us up, keeps us going and fuels us with purpose in life.

Let's celebrate us!

Gratitude Day 5 - Squirrels

Yes I said it! I love squirrels!

To me they are an expression of pure joy.

When I see a squirrel, no matter what mood I am in,
I smile.

When they swish their bushy tails, scurry, play, run, leap, eat or sleep they have no idea that what they are doing is is radiating a rainbow of joy.

And in that moment, in that very instant, my world lights up.

It reminds me that this is what I aspire to do in my life. To be a rainbow of radiating joy!

That in some way I too can share a smile without even knowing it.

I love you little squirrels!

I am so grateful for your vibrancy, life and the joy you share with me!

100 Days of Gratitude - Make it a Year!

I feel a great sense of joy inside when I see the gratitude, love, inspiration and positive vibes that others share with the world.

It is so wonderful to see what others are doing and feel that connection on an energetic level with the positive art that I create and share. I love it! I love that there are so many of us doing this and I want all of us to inspire more and more people to also share positive vibrations of love, gratitude, inspiration and beautiful art with the world.

I have been doing gratitude journals for a long time and so when I saw a friends post of  #100daysofgratitude on Facebook I warmed with joy at the idea of sharing gratitude in this way. What a great way to inspire through social media!

Just like the #lovestones, let's keep growing the #positivevibes and sharing the love through our #positiveart. I want to continue the sharing of this idea of 100 days of Gratitude! Or if you like let's make it a Year of Gratitude! Wow! Imagine the wave of blessings and smiles we can create by doing just this one thing!

On my ground zero day... A year of Gratitude-Day 0

I share with all my gratitude for other artists of love and joy who share in their own creative ways with others. Because all of us together are creating a better world around us with each breath of gratitude we take.

Let's make a wave!

I am so grateful to all who help me share this post. And I invite you to make your commitment to sharing with others your 100 days of Gratitude or if you choose, make it a year!

Post your gratitude and tag it with:

#100daysofgratitude
#yearofgratitude
#positiveart
#positivevibes

and if you would like to see what others are grateful for, you can join the 100 Days of Gratitude community on Facebook at:

Help me share #positivevibes and #positiveart with #lovestones

An image can share a smile, a thought can change a mood.

A little while back I was inspired to paint positive messages on rocks and sprinkle them around. I wanted to share art that could change moods, inspire thoughts and spread smiles.

Part of this inspiration came from the amazing rocks that cover the Ventura's beaches. Tom and I agree that these have to be some of the most beautiful rocks we have ever seen all in one place.

So kind of like a treasure hunt, I started taking rocks I had painted and placing them in random places with the intention of uplifting the people that may find them. I called them #LoveStones.

There is always this little sparkle of joy that I get in imagining the path the #lovestone will take and where it will end up. Will the ocean take it as a gift or will someone see it & smile, or even take it home....

And as I started posting them I thought, how amazing would it be if people all over the world started sharing #positivevibes and #positiveart

 And any kind of art......
that we just randomly sprinkle around our community as a way to raise happiness, joy
and lots and lots of smiles.

So I am sharing this post with you now. To ask you, to inspire you, to join together with me and think of all the ways that we can sprinkle #positivevibes and #positiveart.

Hashtag your art on instagram, twitter and facebook with #positivevibes, #positiveart or #lovestones and lets see how far this can go!

Help me spread the word and share this with as many people as you can to get this idea going and lets see all the #LOVE ripple around the world!

xoxo...Becca
